Supporting Life's Challenges: My Special Interests.
As a counsellor, I’ve found that the people I’m particularly drawn to working with have changed and deepened over the years. While I welcome the chance to support anyone seeking counselling, I have developed a strong interest in working with people navigating bereavement, men’s mental health, young adults and those experiencing burnout. These areas resonate with me in a way that feels both meaningful and personal, and I find great purpose in supporting people through these challenges.
Bereavement, grief and loss
Grief is a complex and deeply personal experience that can leave people feeling untethered. Loss—whether of a loved one, a relationship, or a sense of identity—can shake the very foundation of our lives.
Why I’m Dedicated to Supporting Those in Grief
I’ve witnessed how loss can shape people in profound ways, and I know that, with the right support, it’s possible to move forward while still honoring the loss. It's a real privilege to be able to offer a compassionate space where clients can express their grief, make sense of their emotions, and find their way towards coming to terms with their loss.
Men’s Mental Health
Many men grow up with the message that they should be strong, self-reliant, and keep their struggles to themselves. This can make it incredibly difficult to ask for support, even when they’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or lost.
Why I’m Committed to Supporting Men
I’ve seen how societal expectations can make it harder for men to reach out, and I want to offer a space where they feel safe to talk openly—without fear of judgment. I also still remember the shock and sadness I felt upon learning that suicide is one of the leading causes of death among men, particularly younger men, and the leading cause of death for those under 50 in the UK. Knowing this drives me to make a difference in any way I can.
So, whether it’s about feelings of depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, self-doubt, or past experiences, I aim to support men in exploring their emotions and finding ways to navigate life’s challenges more easily and in a way that feels right for them.
Young People (Ages 18-24)
The transition to adulthood can feel like standing at a crossroads. Many young people grapple with finding their identity, managing the pressures of education or career paths, and navigating relationships—all while facing a world that often feels uncertain and overwhelming.
Why I’m Dedicated to Supporting Young People
This age group holds incredible potential and resilience, but it’s also a time of profound vulnerability. I’m inspired by their capacity for growth and change, and I want to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where they can explore their emotions and gain clarity about their next steps. Helping young people uncover their strengths and build confidence is incredibly rewarding.
Individuals Experiencing Burnout
Burnout has become a widespread issue in our modern, fast-paced world. Whether it stems from career stress, caregiving responsibilities, or simply trying to keep up with life’s demands, burnout can leave people feeling emotionally and physically depleted.
Why I’m Committed to Supporting Those with Burnout
This resonates with me because I've been there. Looking back it was building this for years, but then I suddenly hit a wall—I just couldn’t keep going down the same path. At the same time, I felt completely stuck, unsure of how to move forward. Burnout made me stop, rest, take stock of what was really important to me and then to change course. In a strange sort of way I'm glad it happened.
I understand first-hand how a lack of meaning and relentless stress can erode our sense of self and well-being. I’m drawn to helping people slow down, rediscover what truly matters to them, and create sustainable ways to care for themselves. Supporting clients in finding balance and reclaiming their energy is a process I find deeply fulfilling.
Why This Work Matters to Me
The challenges faced by these groups reflect some of the most universal human experiences: growth, struggle, and resilience. My personal and professional journey has shown me how powerful it can be for someone to feel truly heard and supported. Being part of my clients’ journey toward healing and growth is both an honor and a responsibility I hold with care.
If any of this resonates with you, please know that support is available. Whatever you’re facing, I’m here to listen and help you take the first steps toward a more hopeful future.
